Saturday was a beautiful warm day here in Iowa. Temperatures were between 67 and 73 degrees F all day. In all, it was a perfect day for a half marathon run. So, it was up to the Wabash Trace for a half marathon--probably one of the last for the year (in fact, now I'm sure it was).
About 7 miles into the run my left foot started to hurt. The pain kept getting worse. The good news, I was already on my way back to my truck when the pain started. The bad news . . . I had about 6 miles to go.
Eventually I limped all the way back to the truck and drove home.
It's been a couple days and my foot does not feel any better. I am hoping it is just some kind of sprain or strain. I'm really hoping it is not some kind of hairline fracture in my foot. The timing on this is terrible. We are 60 days out from the WDW Marathon Weekend and I am unable to run at all. I've been limping around since Saturday afternoon.
If I can't run between now and then, I've got to figure out what I can still do to train for those races. I am still doing the Goofy Challenge.
Here's hoping I just strained something.

Go to a sports med doctor. In case it is broken: I got a fracture after last year's DSM marathon and my doctor made me promise to follow his rules exactly and then he let me run a 5-mile turkey trot a month later. I *KNOW* this isn't the same thing, but you may be able to get things handled properly if you check it out now.
Hope? Hope is not a plan.
Wow that sounds just like what I went through last month. I agree see a Doc. if it still hurts and let him do tests to see if you need an MRI. Good luck.
Have Mr. Miyagi do that thing he did on Danielsan when he got injured in the first Karate Kid :o)
All joking aside...definitely get it checked out before it gets worse or it's already worse than you think it is. I hope it'll be okay...you've come this far!!! However, I must admit that I love the Super Goofy attitude that dead or alive you're still doing it! Aaaah...such inspiration for me right now!!! TRUST ME...I need all the inspiring I could get :o)
I know the feeling! That craziness that sets into your mind when you can't do anything for a couple of days....it's a fracture, broken, gang-greene, runners foot, runners elbow (whatever that is)....
Bottom line, you're body is telling you that you need a bit of rest! At least that's what I thinking and hoping for you. :-) I tell ya, I had to take nearly two weeks off with the illness and my running muscles have thanked me for it. The shins have been great and the legs feel a bit refreshed. Perhaps you should take a step back prior to the two forward? You're going to do great in the Goofy whether you put in 200 miles a month or 70 at this point in the year.
See the doctor and see what's going on with that foot. The doctor will be able to tell you what you can and cannot do for training. The important thing is to listen to the doctor and your body so that you don't make things worse!
Good luck and feel better soon!
